Abstract

Active participation of women in the workforce and associated the economic benefits has been debated over many decades. While the benefits are evident, the workforce participation level is far from equal representation which every country is striving to improve. In many developing and under developed counties women still struggle for their basic rights. When they elevate to next level and find meaningful careers often times motherhood becomes one of the prime factors for women to quit career to become the primary care giver. This article is an attempt to look at the ways motherhood impacts the career of women working in IT sector in India and to explore the best practices that IT organizations are implementing to retain the women talent when they enter the motherhood phase.
