Abstract

Multicast routing is more effective, as it transmits a single copy of messages to all its group members within single transmission. Multicast routing protocol requires the individual node to maintain the state information. Maintaining this state information creates a large amount of memory overhead and complexity in finding the geographic location of neighbor nodes. In this paper, Multicast routing protocol using virtual symmetric structure is proposed for Mobile Ad-hoc Network. This protocol mainly focuses on continuous transmission of data packets by using HIPPO nodes and finding the optimal path from source to destination. This protocol constructs a network zone which is virtually symmetric in structure and is build for more robust and scalable membership management. This protocol was simulated and analyzed using MATLAB Software. Simulated results confirm that Multicast routing protocol using virtual symmetric structure protocol provides high success rate with maximum packet delivery ratio and low latency.
