Abstract

The aim of present study was to assess the quality of groundwater from Needamangalam region in Thiruvarur district. Eight different locations were selected to analyze the physicochemical parameters and compared with BIS drinking water quality guideline. From overall analysis, the collected groundwater samples of Needamangalam region are contaminated. These region groundwater samples not suitable for drinking purpose, because the water samples contain high concentration of hardness, alkalinity and total dissolved solids; if use the groundwater of Needamangalam region, shall be cause kidney problems due to excess of calcium hardness. Hence we need special treatment for improve the water quality.
