Abstract Using 5-minute trade and quote data of stocks forming part of BSE SENSEX, this paper aims at analysing the existence of commonality in liquidity measures. Rank correlations are established among the liquidity measures andfound to be generally high and significant within each group. Employing principal component analysis, the empirical results exhibit that there exist a strong evidence of commonality among liquidity measures, suggesting the likelihood that the commonality in liquidity measures being priced in the Indian stock market.
