Regional rural banks - Changing role in new Era banking

Abstract

The balance sheet of banks can never be ignored in today modern type of banking where profits, sustainability and customer satisfaction are the three major issues in front of every type of bank. Keeping this thing in mind, a comparative study of regional rural banks and local area banks is done with respect to various parameters of their balance sheet. The results of the study shows that local area banks are performing better than regional rural banks on most of the selected parameters of the balance sheet and thus proves helpful in serving the needs of the Indian banking system and Indian economy.
