Abstract

Infrastructural projects in India are unseemly famous for the delays in their completion. These delays lead to cost overruns. Through a range of examples, this paper highlights the major reasons for time and hence cost overruns for infrastructural projects in India, especially related to the construction of roads, highways, expressways and flyovers. These reasons run through various stages of the construction process. The paper also recommends various suggestions to reduce the problems of time and cost overruns, if not completely avoiding them.
