Abstract Recent technological and scientific research has been devoted to develop special focus on principal mechanism of floating drug delivery systems (FDDS) to over Come physiological and formulation variables affecting gastric Residence times and unpredictable gastric emptying times approaches to design single-unit and multiple-unit floating systems. The present review explains briefly about Floating drug delivery systems. It also summarizes the in vivo and in vitro studies to develop performance and applications of floating systems. This system are more useful to solve various problems that raised during the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms.
