Children are our future and most precious resources. Health of the future children depends on the nurturing practice adopted by the family. Newborn care refers to the essential care provided to the newborn baby by the mother or by the care provider on breast feeding, maintaining body temperature, care of the cord, care of the eyes and prevention of infection and injuries.

The main aim of this study was to assess the knowledge of postnatal mothers regarding new born care in a selected hospital at Mysuru.

A descriptive survey was adopted. The sample consists of 50 postnatal mothers selected through non probability convenience sampling technique. The data collection tool consisted of a personal profile and structured interview schedule to assess the knowledge of mothers regarding newborn care. The data were collected and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics.

Findings of the study revealed that there was significant association found between level of knowledge of postnatal mothers and their selected personal variables except religion and occupation.
