China's rise on the global platform in the recent times has placed new challenges before many countries. China's economic growth and hegemony in international affairs have not faced much counter except few countries of Asia as most of the Asian countries that have a conflict with China have preferred to surrender in the absence of suitable leadership. Among the countries that have dissented with China and have taken steps to counter its hegemony, India and Japan are important as these countries have been able to understand the real motive behind the initiatives taken by China like ‘One Belt One Road’. China's OBOR initiative is not a programme which will bring prosperity to participating countries rather this initiative is solely aimed at fulfilling China's ambitions of becoming sole power in the world order. Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's formula of forming a "quad" with the U.S.A., Australia and India seems to be the way forward. The U.S. gives this engagement a new name "Indo-Pacific" and prefers this to Asia-Pacific. This new partnership where France and Britain are also showing their interests is a positive step in the direction of providing an alternative to China's hegemonic approach and will help in establishing a world order where leading countries too will adhere to set rules and promote world peace and cooperation.
