A simple, rapid, economical, precise and sensitive UV spectrophotometric method has been developed and validated for for the determination of sildenafil citrate in pharmaceutical preparations. The solution of both the drugs and tablet were prepared in water. Area under curve was integrated in the wavelength range of 275.80–303.20 nm. Calibration curve ves were plotted. Beer's law obeyed in the Concentration range 5–30 μg/ml and with correlation coefficient of 0.9986. an Accuracy and precision studies were carried out and results were satisfactory. The % RSD were not more than 2.0% which indicates good intermediate precision. The method was validated by following the analytical performance parameters suggested by the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). All validation parameters were within the acceptable range. Under experimental conditions described, calibration curve, assay of tablets and recovery studies were performed. Parameters of validation prove the precision of the method and its applicability for the determination of sildenafil citrate in pharmaceutical tablet formulations.
