Abstract

This study examines the effects of the cool dialysis on pruritus and fatigue in hemodialysis patients.

The crossover design was used to evaluate the difference of the effects between the regular hemodialysis with 36.5°C and the cool dialysis with 35.5°Con relieving pruritus and fatigue. 37 participants received total 4 week hemodialysis consisted of the cool hemodialysis for 2 weeks after 2 week the regular hemodialysis.

The results showed that the scores of pruritus were lower than those after the regular hemodialysis.

This study indicates that the cool hemodialysis is more effective on relieving pruritus and fatigue than the regular hemodialysis in hemodialysis patients.
