Abstract

The objective of this study is to prepare Paracetamol Microcapsules using Gelatin type A and Gum Arabic as a hydrophilic polymers. Microcapsules were prepared by complex Coacervation. Microencapsulation Yield “MEY” and microencapsulation efficiency “MEE” were investigated with respond to three variables including: core to wall ratio (2: 1, 4: 1, 6: 1), Stirring Speed (200, 300, 400) rpm and Drying method (Air at room temperature, Air oven at 26°C). Isopropanol was added to some preparations as a crosslinking agent and its effect on MEY and MEE was also investigated with respond to each variable. The results showed that increasing core to wall ratio leads to an increase in both MEE and MEY. The same effect was obtained when increasing stirring speed. The change in a way drying leads to insignificant change in both MEE and MEY. Optimum MEE and MEY were obtained when using core to wall ratio of 6: 1, 400 rpm in both two ways of drying. Adding isopropanol as hardening agent had no noticeable effects on both MEE and MEY.
