Deep collaboration in libraries and the fifth law of library science

Abstract

This articles is culmination of three different aspects which led to emerging concept of Deep Collaboration. It begins by giving importance to the Ranganathan's philosophy of Librarianship through his Five Laws of Library Science and compares one of the Laws, “Library is a Growing Organism” with Darwin's Theory of Evolution. It defines the emerging concept of Deep Collaboration; its principles; characteristics of deep collaboration; its values and the possibilities of user-centric collaboration including applying the same in Indian condition.
