Abstract

The paper discusses the textile sector in India and the need for development of an information and communication network for sharing of resources. It has clearly discussed the users group, information needs of users group, the objectives of such network and the institutions and organizations imparting training and conducting research in textile and allied subjects forming the part of such network. The role of two (major nodal bodies such as NCUTE and NICTAS has also been discussed. A national level network for textile information such as TEXICONET is proposed in this paper.
