Continuous cropping with out fertilization leads to the depletion of organic matter, available N, P, K, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu, whereas continuous fertilization had beneficial effect on organic matter and available N, P and K of the soil. A build up of available P and K in control plots showed a dynamism of these nutrients in soil. Depletions in DTPA extractable (available) Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn status of unfertilized as well as fertilized plots indicated these nutrients were utilized from soil to meet the requirements of crops.
