Abstract

Digitalis purpurea (foxglove, common foxglove, purple foxglove or lady’s glove) is a species of flowering plant in the plantain family Plantaginaceae. The objective of this study were analysis of the secondary metabolite products and investigation of its anti-microbial Activity. GC-MS analysis of methanolic extract of Digitalis purpurea revealed the existence of the 4H-benzopyran-4-one, 6, 7-dimethoxy-3-phenyl, Eucalyptol, 7, 8-Dihydro-7-methyl-2-phenyl-6-p-tosylamino-pyrido[4, 3-d], Octanoic acid, 6-hydroxy-8-methoxy-, ε-lactone, 1, 3-Dioxolane, 2, 2-dimethyl-4-[[(2-methylhexadecyl)oxy]meth, Bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane2, 5-diol, 1, 7, 7-trimethyl-, (2-endo, 5-ex, 1-Hydroxy-4, 4-dimethylcyclohexanecarbonitrile, Bicyclo[3.1.1] hept-2-en-4-ol, 2, 6, 6-trimethyl-, acetate, 12, 15-Octadecadiynoic acid, methyl ester, 2-Cyclohexene-1 methanol, 2, 6, 6-trimethyl, 1-(Cyclopropyl-nitro-methyl)-cyclopentanol, 11-Oxa-dispiro[4.0.4.1]undecan1-ol, Muramic acid, 10-Chlorotricyclo[4.2.1.1(2, 5)]deca-3, 7-dien-9-ol, D-Fructose, diethyl mercaptal, pentaacetate, 10-Octadecenoic acid, methyl ester, 9, 12-Octadecadienoic acid (Z, Z), 3h-Naphtho[2, 3-b] furan-2-one, 4-hydroxy-4a, 5-dimethyl-3, 9, 12, 15-Octadecatrienoic acid, 2-phenyl-1, 3-dioxan-5-yl ester, and α-Tocopheryl acetate. Digitalis purpurea has maximum zone against Streptococcus faecalis (4.671±0.21).
