The effect of fertigation with conventional fertilizers and water soluble fertilizers on the growth and development of first ratoon crop (R1) of banana cv. Robusta (AAA) under high density planting was studied. The plants fertigated with water soluble fertilizers exhibited a strong influence on plant morphology in terms of pseudostem height, girth, number of leaves and its area, LAI, total number of leaves produced and phyllochron. The application of water soluble fertilizers resulted in higher bunch weight, the conventional fertilizers application induced earlier cropping.
