Ndvi-based analysis of vegetation in Mandvi taluka of Surat district, Gujarat

Abstract

The vegetation cover over Mandvi taluka of Surat district, Gujarat by using the Normalized difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The imagery data was taken from Landsat 8 OLI sensor for the year 2013 and 2023. Data processing was done in Arc GIS software. The value of NDVI ranged from -0.20 to 0.48 for the year 2013 and for the year 2023 it was -0.03 to 0.44. From the results obtained it can be concluded that Eastern part of the study area displays more vegetation cover in the both the year. The vegetation cover in Mandvi taluka was with Dense Forest, crop vegetation, irrigated agricultural land and agriculture fellow land.
