Intrinsic toxicity evaluation of novel insecticides and bio-pesticides against Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) on Bell pepper
Abstract
The results of leaf dip bioassay against the third instar larvae of Spodoptera litura in vitro affirmed chlorantraniliprole as the most effective insecticide in terms of toxicity. LC50 values of two bio-pesticides i.e. SlNPV and Btk were 1.32 x 105 POBs/ml and 0.04%, respectively. The concentration of azadirachtin required to inhibit 50% of the foliage feeding i.e. EC50 was estimated to be 4.16 ppm. The relative toxicity of different insecticides on the basis of LC50 value to third instar larvae by leaf dip method demonstrated that chlorantraniliprole, bifenthrin, emamectin benzoate, flubendiamide and indoxacarb were 758.33, 36.11, 31.16, 22.85 and 10.95 times more toxic than novaluron.
