Forewarning the infestation of Leaf Webber (Glyphodes pyloalis walker) in Mulberry gardens of Kalimpong Area
Abstract
Periodical recording of mulberry leaf webber, Glyphodes pyloalis population, their damage response on mulberry and abiotic factors viz., maximum and minimum temperatures, maximum and minimum relative humidity and rainfall for two consecutive years was done in 21 plots of Kalimpong area. Multiple regression studies revealed that minimum temperature averaged over 1 log week prior to the day of incidence played an important role for the pest population build up. This model can be used by an extension functionary to inform farmers about likelihood of pest incidence, thus ensuing need based pesticide application
