Abstract

Wood Apple rind has been carbonized using hot air oven and microwave oven after the treatment with phosphoric acid. Both the samples are employed as an adsorbent for the removal of Alizarin red dye from aqueous solution. The prepared adsorbents were characterised by using FT-IR, SEM. The effect of pH, initial dye concentration and adsorbent dosage has been studied. The experimental data were fitted with Langumuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The pH of the solution plays an important role in the removal of Alizarin red dye using the above adsorbents.
