Abstract

In the modern era, it is noticeable that all the developing countries across the universe are striving very hard to grow multi-dimensionally. It may be unrealistic without enhancing the knowledge and skills of their workforce on multi-trades. No sector is exceptional on this front. In this context, there is also no other choice other than imparting training to its personnel for performing multitasks. Reportedly, 1 per cent increase in training result in added value of 0.6 per cent per hour and approximately 0.3 per cent hike in hourly wages. Indeed, it stimulates a need for launching and imparting suitable training and development programmes on multi-trades. It is felt essential to reach the goals of both the individuals and organizations for ensuring a balanced development. This will substantially contribute to the national economic growth and development in the long run. For the purpose, secondary data was put at use and suitable analysis was made for drawing meaningful conclusions therefrom.

The objectives of this paper is to give a brief account on the conceptual background of the training, to highlight the key indicators of training effectiveness, to analyse the multi-dimensional impacts of the trainings on multi-trades, to assess the status of training programmes organized in ITIs in Nagaland and to present suggestive measures to improve the status for its economic development.
