Abstract Introduction The present study examined the impact of Self-concept on Academic achievement of secondary school students with relation to their gender of Coochbehar district. In present day society's interest and concern for academic achievement, especially among the adolescents has increased. Academic achievement is the combination of ability and effort. A good academic achievement gain by a student plays a pivotal role for social, cultural and economic development. Method There are 300 adolescents are selected from age group ranged between 14 and 18 drawn from 10 state government aided school of Coochbehar district. Dr. R. K. Saraswat's self-concept questionnaire (inventory) used to elicit response from the participants. Mean, Standard deviation, Standard error of mean, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient etc are used to analyzed and tested of the data. Result The study find out that there was a significant different between self-concept of boy and girl secondary students of Coochbehar district. There was a weak positive relationship between self-concept of girl and boy students with academic achievement. Conclusion Self-concept and academic achievement of secondary students of Coochbehar district is different individual to individual and region to region. Students' self-concept not significantly impact on academic achievement but there was a weak positive (r= 0.1305) impact of self-concept on academic achievement. The impact of boys' self-concept (r= 0.2158) is more than the girls' self-concept (r= 0.0395) on academic achievement. Top Keywords Self-concept, Academic achievement, Gender, Coochbehar district.
