Abstract “Green business” is just not a concept anymore, but is a mainstream path to sustainable development. Environmental concerns are been echoed across the world and hence businesses need to find a comprehensive approach to tackle the harm being done to our eco system. The need for change in the way businesses are being done is not just a fad but an inevitable issue which would require developing skills, knowledge and values across the layers of management decision makers. Management education program's (MBA) are influencing and developing ‘management thought process’ in the future managers. Annually more than a 2.lakh management graduates enter the business world in India alone, these can become catalyst to the transformation of businesses to “green businesses”. This however, requires special skills, competencies and approach to business. MBA curriculums have incorporated many ‘competencies’ to be developed in their students, which include business ethics, corporate governance, nationalism, diversity etc. Environmental concerns however, still remain overlooked. Business schools need to work towards the concept of ‘Green MBA’ which can transform the way business are being done and can lead to sustainable development for business. The paper consisting primarily of literature review and research on national and international experiences is a prelude to empirical work on this concept of ‘Green MBA’. This paper and future work gains special significance where the UNSECO has declared the decade 2005 – 2014 as the decade of “Education For Sustainable Development.
