Role of patent and IPR laws for bringing economic development in the post globalisation era Das Nilamani Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Abstract The present day globalised economy has placed much significance on the internalization and harmonization of IPR laws by establishment of WTO. India amended its IPR laws by availing full concession period from 1995 to 2005 and made its IPR laws TRIPs compliant. This article analyses the international dimension of patent and IPR laws and post-globalisation effect of IPR laws on India's economy and financial prosperity. An attempt has also been made to give a rightful direction to policy makers to maintain a balance between sustained economic growth and appropriate returns for innovators.
