Abstract The effects of certain Plant Growth Regulators, viz., IAA, IBA and GA3,have been studied on the life cycle of Achlya diffusa Harvey ex Johnson. 0.005% concentration of IAA showed the best growth in culture medium whereas inoculums, dipped for one minute in 0.005% concentration and inoculated on medium showed the best growth. 0.0005% concentration of IBA showed the best growth in culture medium whereas inoculums, dipped for one minute in 0.005% concentration and inoculated on medium showed the best growth. 0.05% concentration of GA3 showed the best growth in culture medium whereas inoculums, dipped for one minute in 0.5% concentration and inoculated on medium showed the best growth. The dry-weight assessment (in mg) of the growth indicated very clear-cut results with a different sequence. The maximum dry-weight of the colony was in 0.05% of GA3 followed by 0.0005% of IBA and 0.005% of IAA over the control. All the PGRs have shown definite morphological changes at different stages of the life cycle of Achlya diffusa. Top Keywords Growth regulators, aquatic fungi, Achlya diffusa, IAA, IBA, GA3. Top |
