Information relating to various problems faced by the papaya growers was enlisted in a pre-tested interview schedule. The farmers were asked to rank the constraints in the order of importance. The opinion of the farmers were analysed by Garrett's ranking technique. The resu1t of the analysis has shown that the papaya growing farmers opined that high cost of input was the major problem in production. Regarding marketing constraints, farmers complaints about distant market ranked first due to non availability of regulated fruit mandi in study area. Lower prices, no alternative marketing channels were the major impediments in papaya cultivation. Top Keywords Marketing, constraints, APMC, Garrett. Top |
