Effect of Post Harvest Application of Hexanal Vapour on the Quality Attributes of Mango var. Bangalora

Abstract

Mango being a climacteric fruit has shorter shelf life. Post harvest application of hexanal vapour on mango cultivar bangalora was studied to enhance shelf life and quality attributes like pH, TSS, titrable acidity. Effect of post harvest application of hexanal vapour on texture and colour of bangalora fruits was also studied. Three hexanal vapour concentration viz., 600, 900 and 1200 ppm was applied for three duration (2, 4 and 6h) and storage studies was carried out under atmospheric and cold storage conditions. Studies confirm that hexanal vapour extends the shelf life with no significant effect on quality attributes as compared to control and increased textural and colour of fruit.
