Abstract A field experiment was conducted during summer season of the year 2013 at College Agronomy Farm, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Guj arat to study the "Influence of irrigation scheduling based on critical growth stages and different levels of zinc on growth, yield attributes and seed yield of summer cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) under middle Gujarat conditions". The soil of the experimental plot was loamy sand in texture, medium in available zinc (0.62 ppm) with 7.5 pH. The results showed that significantly higher plant height recorded at 60 DAS and at harvest except at 30 DAS, number of branches plant−1, days to 50 per cent flowering, days to maturity, harvest index, seed yield and stover yield, protein content and highest net realization were registered under treatment I4 (Irrigation at 0.8 IW: CPE ratio) followed by treatment I3 (Irrigation at branching + flowering + pod formation + seed filling) and I2. All these characters were higher under level of zinc application 12.5 kg ZnSO4 ha−1. Results regarding interaction effect of irrigation schedules and application of zinc revealed that the treatment combination I4Zn1 (Irrigation at 0.8 IW: CPE ratio along with application of Zn @ 12.5 kg ZnSO4 ha−1 recorded significantly higher seed yield, stover yield and net realization. Top Keywords Cowpea, IWCPE ratio and Zinc. Top |
