Heterosis Studies in Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) Kumar Narendra, Saravaiya S. N., Patel A. I., Nazaneen N.S. Department of Vegetable Science, ASPEE College of Horticulture and Forestry Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, 396 450 Online published on 13 January, 2016. Abstract A field experiment was carried out to study the "Heterosis and combining ability for yield and yield attributes in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench)". The experimental material comprised of 7 parents, 21 hybrids produced through half-diallel and hybrid check from the parents GJO-3. The data were obtained for fifteen characters including fruit yield and its components. Significant differences were observed among parents and hybrids indicating considerable genetic variation among these genotypes. The crosses JOL-11-12 × JOL-09-05, GJO-3 × JOL-10-18, GJO-3 × JOL-09-05 and JOL-09-07 × JOL-08-08 showed significant and desirable heterosis for fruit yield per plant over standard check. Top Keywords Heterosis, Abelmoschus esculentus, half-diallel. Top | |
