Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at MARS (Main Agricultural Research Station), Dharwad during 2013. Soil samples were collected from agricultural, horticultural and forest ecosystems. Among the different ecosystems forest ecosystem (64.31/100 g of soil) was recorded highest population of total soil micro arthropods followed by horticultural (51.10/100 g of soil) and agricultural ecosystems (34.14/100 g of soil). Forest ecosystem recorded more number of collembolans (15.76/100 g of soil) and cryptostigmatids (15.19/100 g of soil) as compared to horticultural and agricultural ecosystems.
