Results revealed that the safflower germplasm lines screened against A. carthami under artificial epiphytotics (screen house) indicated that out of the twenty seven test entries, one (GMU-4017) was found moderately resistant, nine germplasm lines viz., GMU-4012, GMU-4016, GMU-4021, GMU-4106, GMU-4111, GMU-4115, GMU-4117, GMU-4121 and GMU-4122 were tolerant. The seventeen germplasm lines viz., GMU-4005, GMU-4006, GMU-4007, GMU-4008, GMU-4013, GMU-4015, GMU-4018, GMU-4019, GMU-4020, GMU-4101, GMU-4102, GMU-4105, GMU-4107, GMU-4110, GMU-4118 and GMU-4119 were susceptible against A. carthami.
