Online published on 24 December, 2014. Abstract To monitor the population of H. armigera the sleeve traps baited with pheromone lure “(z)-11 hexadecenal” (Helilure) were installed in the field of pigeonpea onsixplaces of Eastern Uttar Pradesh (District-Deoria and Siddharth Nagar), using 1.5–2.5 m tall bamboo sticks. Adult male moths activities were noticed from 45th SW and onwards in both the years. Peak population of moths (>4 moths/week) were recorded during 9th -11th SW week and 6th-11th SW in the first and second year, respectively. It was lowest (<1 moth/week) during 50th to 4th SW. Maximum larval population of H. armigera (>5 larvae/10 plants/week) were observed in the 10th and 11th SW. Among the abiotic factors temperature showed positive, while relative humidity negative correlation with moth catches in pheromone traps. The study also revealed the number of trapped moths proportionate the severity larval infestation in pigeonpea.
