Online published on 13 January, 2015. Abstract Heterosis in ridge gourd was studied in a set of 45 F1’s with 15 parents following kempthornes Line x Tester model. Results indicated highly significant differences for all the characters among the materials studied. Heterosis was higher for yield per plant, number of fruits per plant and individual fruit weight, medium in fruit length and fruit diameter. The significant heterosis over better parent was observed for Gadag Local x Araka Summet for fruit set and Average fruit weight, Gadag Local x Arabhavi Local Number of fruits pervine Kanapur Local x Arabhavi Local fruit length, Kanapur Local x Araka Summet Fruityield per vine, Araka Sujat x Arabhavi Local Fruit yield perplot, Chintamani Local x Kolar Local rind thickness and Kanapur Local x Araka Summet Fruit diameter respectively.
