Impact of Artificially Generated Articulate Air Pollution by Dusting Fly Ash on Vegetative and Reproductive Organs of Luffa aegyptica L. Azam Tanweer, Hisamuddin, Niyaz T., Islam M. Department of Botany, Plant Pathology Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh Online published on 27 December, 2012. Abstract Fly ash was obtained from the point source at Kasimpur Thermal Power Plant source and was used to dust over the plant in different concentrations. The experiment was carried out in clay pots and during fly ash dusting the soil was covered with polyethylene sheets. From the data it was found that the fly ash resulted in reducing all the considered parameters. In T1 and T2 plants the reductions were non-significant. Significant (P=0.05) reductions were observed from T3 plants but highest reduction was recorded in T5 plants, on which fly ash was dusted in the highest concentration. From T1 to T5 the level of reduction exhibited a gradual increase. The reductions were significantly (P=0.01) higher in T4 and T5 plants. The results indicated that fly ash, at any concentration, produced harmful effects on the plants. Top Keywords Luffa aegyptica, fly ash, plant growth, yield, leaf area. Top | |
