Online published on 5 February, 2014. Abstract The purpose of the paper is to theoretically investigate the combined effect of chemical reaction and radiation on heat and mass transfer of a general unsteady hydromagnetic, free convective flow of viscoelastic fluid (Walter's B-model) through a vertical channel. The temperature and the concentration at one plate of the channel is assumed to be oscillating with time. The uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the planes of the plates. The solution of the governing equation for the velocity, the temperature and the concentration fields are obtained in close form. The significant effects of various parameters entering into the problem, on the velocity, the temperature, the concentration, the skin friction, the rate of heat and mass transfer have been evaluated numerically and expressed graphically. The phase angles of the skin friction; the heat transfer and the mass transfer have been tabulated and discussed. Top Keywords Viscoelastic fluid, Oscillatory, MHD, Chemical Reaction and Radiation.
