Abstract Social media play a big part in connecting communities where people can communicate online and share knowledge. In India, young people of the new generation are increasingly using societal media extensively. In today's society, social media use has assimilated into people's daily lives. This study focuses on social media usage patterns and how they affect young people. This article makes a unique contribution to the important topic of how digital media affects children's and young people's daily lives. Interviews with teachers in English schools and focus groups with young people suggested that digital media can be a point of disagreement for young people and their parents or carers. According to our research, kids and teens have a contradictory connection with the Internet because they have a dual sense of freedom and unease when using it. They claimed that the Internet provided a "haven" and a means of "escape," but they also expressed anxiety about using their data and felt compelled to hide their online activity. Modern social networking culture has received positive comments and a welcome reception. The study demonstrates that social media has beneficial and detrimental effects on young people.
