Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to investigate the influence of three plant growth retardants, viz., Cycocel, Maleic hydrazide and Ethrel in the different concentrations of foliar spray at two stages i.e. 25 & 50 DAS of orka. The results indicated that foliar application of cycoel 300 ppm at 25 and 50 days after sowing retarded the duration of reproductive phase reduced day to first flower opening and inter-nodal length. However, fruit yield per plant (g), number of fruits per plant and fruit yield per hectare (q/ha) noted highest in the same treatment. Mean while, highest net return with higher cost benefit ratio was also resulted in the same treatment as compared to other treatments.
