Abstract This article aims to provide a comparative analysis of two leading Indian LIS journals, i.e., Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS) and DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT). This study comparatively examines the year and country-wise publication growth; international collaboration; research trend analysis; the relationship between self-citation and total citation; bibliographic coupling and distribution of scientific production; reference publication year spectroscopy (RPYS), and impact factor analysis of both journals. ALIS and DJLIT both have received more contributions from India. The world-wide dimension of ALIS is more than DJLIT, but DJLIT has +1.59% more international collaboration than ALIS and ALIS total citation, and self-citation is higher than DJLIT. During the years 2012 to 2015, the ALIS impact factor was higher than DJLIT, and between 2018 and 2020, the DJLIT impact factor was higher than ALIS. In this study, the single-author contribution is higher than multiple authors in ALIS. In DJLIT, B.K. Sen has contributed the highest number of articles, and B.M. Gupta has contributed the highest number of articles, and in co-citation authorship in ALIS, Garfield is the highest co-citation author among Gupta and Hirsch.
