Gastrointestinal parasitic infection profile of bovines at R.S. University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, R.S. Pura, Jammu-181 102, India Abstract A total of 640 faecal samples collected from bovines in tehsil R.S. Pura, Jammu revealed 59.68% prevalence of helminthic infections where 60.51% and 56.61% infection was from adult and bovine calves, respectively. Amphistomes (26.56%) were predominant followed by strongyles (8.43%). Percentage prevalence of Fasciola, Strongyloides, Ascaris, Trichuris, Moniezia spp. was 5.15, 4.53, 7.96, 0.93, 0.62, 0.52, respectively. Mixed infection with one or more helminthic ova was also detected in 5.46% bovines. Helminthic infection was recorded throughout the year with seasonal variation i.e. highest during rainy (66.35%) followed by winter (57.87%) and summer (54.25%), respectively.
