Genetic variation and selection for curd quality in local collections of cauliflower Sharma Jag Paul, Samnotra R.K., Gupta A.K., Chopra S., Kumar Sanjeev, Kumar Satesh, Bhushan Anil Division of Olericulture and Floriculture, SKUAST–J, Main Campus Chatha, Jammu-180 012 Abstract Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L) is one of the most popular crops among the crucifers grown world over. Not much work has been done on variability in cauliflower. Keeping this in mind some selections were made from the available local germplasm in Jammu region for variability studies in Division of Olericulture ε Floriculture, FAO, Main Campus Chatha, SKUAST–Jammu, during the year 2003–2004. The selections showed a wide range of variability for characters (Curd weight, Curd color, Curd compactness, harvest index and days to marketable maturity). CCS-I (Cauliflower Composite Selection-I) excelled the other selections for all the characters. Top Key words Genetic variation, selection, curd quality, cauliflower. Top |
