Inter-relationship study among various horticultural traits in heading broccoli (Brassica Oleracea Var Italica Plenck.) Gautam Vishal, Sharma Bindu, Sharma Susheel Department of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, CSKHPKV, Palampur-176 062 Abstract The present studies were undertaken in eighteen (18) genotypes of heading broccoli with a view to assess the correlation coefficient and path analysis for marketable yield and other important traits. The nature of genotypic correlation coefficients was higher than the corresponding phenotypic ones in most of the traits. Marketable yield per plant was found to be associated with gross weight per plant, head size index, leaf size and stalk diameter. It is evident from these associations that higher marketable yield can be obtained by increasing the associated traits. At phenotypic level, gross weight per plant, head size index, harvest index and leaf size and at genotypic level, leaf size, days to maturity, head size index, harvest index, stalk diameter and gross weight per plant had direct positive effects on marketable yield per plant. Keeping in view the direct and indirect contribution of component traits towards marketable yield per plant, the indirect selection on the basis of horticultural traits viz., gross weight per plant, leaf size, head size index, harvest index, days to maturity in the genotypes under study would be rewarding. Top Key words Gross weight, head size index, leaf size, stalks diameter, harvest index, positive effect, marketable yield. Top |
