Abstract

This clinical study reveals an unusual way of managing the common bile duct exploration in a peripheral hospital where it was not possible to procure a T tube. A Foley's catheter was made into a make shift T tube as described in the text below, and the unexpectedly encountered dilated common bile duct during a planned cholecystectomy was drained with this without any adverse postoperative course.

However, this is not recommended as a routine procedure and all the requirements for any surgery should be checked in advance in any peripheral hospital where such situation could arise.
