Abstract Libraries play an important role in enabling information-seeking procedures, hence information-seeking and libraries are closely related ideas. Some essential concepts about information searching and libraries are explained here. Models of information seeking give formal frameworks for understanding and analyzing how people seek information to meet their information demands. These models aid researchers, librarians, and information professionals in better understanding the complex process of information seeking. This article focused on Wilson’s, Kuhlthau’s, Dervin’s, and Ellis’ information-seeking models and process, as well as factors influencing information-seeking and the steps of the information-seeking process.
