Abstract The main aim of this study is to evaluate the open access journals in the field of Language & Literature available in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) database. They conducted the study using various techniques: year-wise, country–wise, language-wise, licensing modes–wise, and so on. The study identifies 1,553 journals in the fields of Language & literature indexed in the DOAJ database, which has been published from 74 different countries in 68 various languages from 2002 to 2022 (18/01/2022). The maximum no. of journals published in 2017 & 2021 with 228 journals. The leading journals are published in the English Language with 1127 journals, while most journals contributors’ country is Brazil with 200 open access journals. Most of journals are published under ‘double blind peer review’’ and the maximum journals are published under the ‘ÇC BY’ licence.
