Effect of usage of mobile phones on students’ health and study during the covid 19 period

Abstract

In today's era, Mobile technology within the classroom engages learners in ways that transcend typical classroom settings. In recent years, pedagogy institutions have supported students’ learning and advancement through mobile technologies. Mobile technology provides educational opportunities to help students achieve greater success in educational activities. This study explored the impact of using mobile phones on the academic performance of undergraduate and postgraduate students at Hindu Girls College in Jagadhri, Haryana. This study used a quantitative research approach to collect data from 168 undergraduate and postgraduate girl students using questionnaires in order to estimate the impact. It was found that most respondents used smartphones to prepare assignments and to engage with fellow students and lecturers.It was also found that using smartphones divertsstudents'attention away from their academic activities in several ways. The results showed that most respondents faced technical problems while using smartphones and health issues. The use of smartphones on students’ academic performance is beneficial in a positive way during COVID.
