Abstract

Continuous application of farmyard manure to a sierozem soil in the semi-arid region of Haryana resulted in the lowering of pH and increase in organic carbon content, cation exchange capacity and exchangeable cations. There was build-up of available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium with the use of phosphatic fertilizers. Potassium application had no marked effect on the chemical properties of the soil which was initially quite rich in available potash
