Online published on 13 January, 2020. Abstract The present study was conducted with 100 farm women of five villages of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand State. The objective of the study was to analyze impact of IEC messages on nutritional knowledge of the respondents and data on the socioeconomic and demographic profiles were also collected. Demographic profile indicates that majority of respondents that is 42% were in the age group of 31–40 years, 58% were married, 68% belonged to OBC category, 31% were graduates and 43% were involved in farm activities. About 42% had monthly income between 5001–10, 000 rupees. About 41% belonged to joint family and 66% were vegetarian. Five messages on various nutritional aspects were formulated and imparted to the respondents. For the entire messages post test score after one week of IEC intervention was taken and found higher than pre test scores and the difference was significant. When the pre test scores were compared with gain in knowledge and retention in knowledge, significant difference was found. Post test scores after one month of intervention was also higher. Findings indicated that nutrition education intervention was helpful in gaining knowledge in the respondents. Top Keywords Farm women, IEC, knowledge, nutrition, retention. Top |
