Abstract The study was conducted to assess the socioeconomic factors affecting women employment, to analyse the allocation of women’s income, women’s say in spending their income and job problems. A total sample of 120 respondents was taken from the four villages from two districts of Haryana i.e. Hisar and Panchkula. Results revealed that most prominent reason to take up the job among the respondents was insufficient income of the husband whereas the main purpose of the income was to supplement family income followed by education of children. 69.17 per cent of the respondents were found not to have free will to spend their income. The most prominent job problem encountered by the respondents was difficulty in performing dual role. The economic status of women plays a key role in determining her social status also interventions to improve women’s resources will improve family nutrition and food consumption. Income of women, production-focused inputs, labour-saving technology, microfinance, social networks, and human capital should be promoted through such collaboration.
