Sector-wise growth of agro-processing units indicate that growth in number of factories was highest in case of wearing apparel followed by paper and paper products, food products and beverages, textiles, wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture. In case of fixed capital, crop and animal production, hunting and related service activities recorded highest growth followed by wearing apparel, wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture, food products & beverages, leather and related products, etc. The growth was negative in case of tobacco products and manufacture of furniture. On the whole the growth in terms of persons engaged was moderate. In case of total input, total output and net value added, the growth was fairly good except manufacture of furniture. Efforts should be made to open new agro-processing units near the source of supply of raw material. It will not only help to solve the problem of marketing of agricultural products but also it will create more employment opportunities in rural areas particularly for landless & marginal farmers.
